The nursery was initially started to produce trees for Forestry use. About 60,000 trees are being grown at the moment ( October 2004). Most of the trees produced are still in the smaller size classes needed by foresters (typically 20cm - 60cm) but an increasing number are being grown on to around 2 metres for landscaping and garden use. We do not set out to produce trees much larger than this as they become difficult to transport.
The smaller size trees are grown both as cell grown and bare rooted. The larger
trees are grown in containers so can be planted all year.
The nursery is registered with the Scottish Exectutive who inspect the stock for
pests and diseases annually. Our registration number is UK/S 0510
